Senior Bridge Inspector - West Virginia
Infrastructure Consulting and Engineering, PLLC (ICE) is looking for a Senior Bridge Inspector to join the team in West Virginia.
Your role is pivotal in shaping the success of our organization! Position Summary: The Senior Bridge Inspector will monitor the work of contractors to ensure quality control and contract compliance/specifications for culvert structures and bridge construction of moderate to considerable complexity.
In addition to inspection responsibilities, the inspector may be required to also provide inspection/project management under the direction of a Project Manager.
Additionally, this inspector will provide directions to trainee inspectors on the project as needed.
Position Responsibilities: Provide daily observation of construction activities and document activities on required reports/forms.
Review construction materials for contract and specification compliance.
Inspect roadway and structures for conformance to plans and specifications.
Evaluate structural materials, placement of culverts, and structural operations such as foundation excavation.
Monitor placement of pilings, reinforcing and structural steel, concrete, and backfill.
Verify lines, grades, dimensions, and elevations using survey and field engineering equipment.
Perform accurate calculations and computations.
Review contractor submittals for conformance to project documents and specifications.
Document and immediately report any non-compliance actions and safety violations to your immediate supervisor.
Record daily construction inspection notes for AWP and ProjectWise document management.
Position Requirements: HS diploma or equivalent required.
Technical college coursework in engineering is preferred.
Must be familiar with AWP and ProjectWise.
Structure experience with TRET Certification or be able to obtain within 6 months required.
Will be required to keep TRET and material certifications up to date and current through classes and Bridge Valley Strong written and communication skills required.
Proficient in Microsoft programs and ability to learn new technology.
Above-average math and problem-solving skills are required.
Ability to communicate in English both verbally and written.
WVDOH material and ACI certifications preferred or able to obtain.
A valid Driver's License is required with a safe driving record and must complete a pre-employment screening.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Desired Qualifications: Associate or BS Degree in Civil Engineering or Survey preferred.
Minimum 4 years of experience in WVDOT QC/inspection work desired.
Physical Demands: While working in the office, this position predominantly involves up to 8 hours per day at a computer workstation, with occasional standing and walking.
The employee may occasionally lift lightweight office supplies and materials, typically not exceeding 20 pounds.
The office environment is indoors, characterized by controlled temperatures and minimal exposure to adverse conditions.
Must have visual acuity to recognize/change/add precise details on CAD drawings.
During fieldwork, the position entails moderate physical exertion, encompassing walking, standing, bending, and ascending stairs or ladders.
The employee may occasionally lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Fieldwork exposes inspectors to various environmental conditions, including but not limited to loud noise levels, dust, dirt, and temperature fluctuations.
Inspectors must adeptly navigate construction sites and conduct thorough inspections of materials and structures.
