Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications Competency in oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work with adults and community agencies.
Excellent organizational skills.
Experience using word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Ability to provide training/workshops for parents and other community members and to prepare and distribute presentation materials.
Ability to be self-motivated and to effectively organize time to fulfill performance responsibilities.
Role Responsibilities To coordinate parent, family, and community involvement activities, according the six goals (National PTA Standards) outlined below: Communicating – conduct on-going communication with parents, community, and school staff to include written and verbal communication; contact with parents via school visits, home visits, and phone.
Parenting – support family and parenting needs through meetings and trainings, networking with agencies and organizations.
Student Learning – support student learning at-school and at-home including dissemination of student learning materials and information.
Volunteering – develop and/or expand parent/family/community volunteer opportunities.
Decision-making and Advocacy – organize and support parents and community members in decision-making and advocacy roles including PTA, Citizens’ Advisory Council, School Improvement Team.
Collaboration with Community – develop and/or expand partnerships with community resources including businesses, agencies, and organizations.
Document parent and family involvement activities through daily activity logs, contact logs and monthly and annual summary reports.
Participate in professional development activities.
Maintain the same level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students and adults as is expected of fully-certified teachers.
Demonstrate courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders of Washington County Public Schools.
Other duties as appropriate.
Environmental Factors and Physical/Mental Requirements The Environmental Factors and Physical/Mental demands represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
