Interim Administrator / Coffman Nursing Home Must be licensed Administrator with preceptor Temporary / at least 9-12 months Full Time/ Monday - Friday SUMMARY Responsible for planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and coordinating of the facility to ensure quality care.
To be knowledgeable of, and implement, Federal, State and Local Laws and regulations applicable to the facility and its personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
• Select personnel to supervise activities of major departments and consult with them regarding problems' hire, discipline, and terminate department head level employees.
Ascertain quality of performance, wage adjustments, and interdepartmental relationships.
• Prepare and submit required reports.
• Represent facility with government and private agencies, including legal matters.
• Observe activities in each department, and on each shift, to assure job performance and quality adherence.
• Establish, implement, review and update facility policies pertaining to resident care, personnel, financial control, public relations, maintenance of physical plant, job descriptions and procedure manuals.
• Accompany surveyors and consultants on facility inspections; arrange exit conferences, which include department heads; review deficiencies and submit a plan of correction to the appropriate governmental agency upon receipt of Report of Deficiencies.
• Supervise department heads.
Meet with department heads and make rounds.
• Review the performance of employees with department heads.
• Assume security for physical management records, personnel records, and current and closed resident records.
• Review monthly financial statements, and provide such information as requested to the governing board.
• Work with Department Heads and Supervisors to provide staff meeting, in-service training, orientation programs, employee evaluations and supervision.
• Maintain personal contact with residents and their families or guardians.
• Be an active member of committees, where applicable.
• Assume oversight of Fire and Disaster Drills to keep the facility in compliance.
• Review and evaluate reports from the facility's committees and consultants and document disposition and implementation of recommendations.
• Ensure volunteer program is planned and supervised by a designated employee.
• Operate, manage, and maintain facility in accordance with established policies and procedures of the governing body.
• Act as Liaison between the President and Professional and Supervisory Staff through meetings and reports.
• Prepare and forward to authorities, reports as required by Federal, State and Local agencies and Management.
• Notify State Agencies of any changes.
• Assure that Title VI is published annually and ensure standards are met.
• Maintain up-to-date status of Policy Book.
• On call status: 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
(May share with President and others as needed.
) • Review nursing reports of residents status on daily basis.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES All departments, employee and consultants, including overseeing the Medical Director and attending physicians, for both nursing care and assisted living.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE As required by State and Federal Laws, but at least a B.
S.
Degree from an accredited college or university.
At least two years preferred experience as Nursing Home Administrator, including preceptor.
COMPUTER SKILLS Enter, adjust and retrieve data using a microcomputer or personal computer and keyboard.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Hold a current, unencumbered nursing facility Administrator's License for the State of Maryland.
