Job Description:
The Production Planner is responsible for planning, controlling and generating an effective production schedule to the scheduling and operational organizations/teams.
The generated production plan is expected to be as operationally efficient and feasible as possible for proper execution.
The Production Planner is also responsible for all related company goals, and the success of these goals.
The company goals associated with this role are balancing and smoothing the production plan, volume planning inventory for network distribution, back order and open order fulfillment, batch and tank efficiency, and scheduling optimization.
The detailed scheduler is responsible to review and escalate concerns with supply vs.
demand and capacity concerns on the production schedule to the Master Scheduler, Planning Resource Manager, and Supply Chain Director.
The role requires strong collaboration with the Production Planning Manager which whom this role reports to.
This role will also be require close collaboration with the Scheduling Manager within each asset operation, Supply Chain Director, Operations Manager(s), and Area Manager(s) to meet or beat business goals.
Primary Responsibilities
Manage and execute ERP System tool via order-based planning.
Maintain planned orders to adapt stocking levels to stock material strategies.
Create a supply plan using operational data to help efficiently react to short-term supply constraints and proactively avoid/eliminate long term supply constraints.
Level load and analyze more efficient supply plan to meet demands.
Maintain and analyze exceptions with material planning and operations, and recognition of new demand within planning time fence.
Mark and track proper execution on critical batches (as defined by the Supply Chain Director).
Collaborate and communicate planning changes with scheduling teams (leads, area managers or site managers) with commentary/reason.
Reconcile overcapacity work centers with inputs from operations and supply chain management.
Identify opportunities to improve the15 day to 24 month plan (repeats, 1:1 materials, manhours).
Represent Planning in Weekly Supply, Operations and Execution calls (IBP focused).
Represent in the monthly IBP cycle; specifically Site Reviews, Regional Supply Reviews as needed.

Qualification & Experience:
Minimum three (3) years of relevant work experience in a planning function for a manufacturing company.
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related discipline
Essential Skills/Knowledge:
Sound knowledge of supply chain processes and procedures including manufacturing planning, and/or material planning.
Experience in batch planning processes in coatings or related industry strongly preferred
Strong communication skills
Reasonable problem solving and analytical skills.
Ability to manage complexity and resolve conflicts that arise from balancing multiple priorities.
Proficient in SAP & planning tools (preferable OMP+), MS office applications.
Preferred knowledge of Lean Methodologies
