Position Summary
Sets up and operates CNC equipment while maintaining quality and required tolerances.
This includes mills, drills, and other machinery.
Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities
Loads tools, offsets, pallets, and programs into various machines
Lifts metal stock or work pieces manually, and positions/secures them in machines using fasteners and hand tools
Confirms conformance of finished work, using measuring and inspection tool, as necessary
Inspects work produced without assistance by using micrometer; calipers, CMM, optical comparator, or other measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications
Makes tool/machine offsets accurately and understands tool wear, changing tools as necessary
Adjusts speeds and feeds manually at the control panel
Identifies and addresses minor issues with set ups
Provides clear instructions on how to run required parts
Possesses a keen sense of urgency to meet or exceed daily quotas
Reports production/scrap numbers accurately both in written and verbal forms
Trains CNC Operator Level 2 employees
Maintains a clean, organized workstation that supports 6S methodology
Informs supervisor of any issues with operation of equipment, safety concerns, or quality issues
Wears proper PPE at all times and conforms to all safety rules and regulations
Performs other duties, as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
HAAS or vertical mill experience, preferred
Prior experience with CNC set ups, required
Ability to read/interpret blueprints, use/read precise measuring tools, and perform general math calculations
Strong organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of employees
Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds occasionally
Educational & Certification
High School Diploma or GED, preferred
