Essential Duties:
• Install, configure, and maintain the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) operating system on enterprise servers in a hybrid environment (on-premises and cloud)
• Perform software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages, following established policies and procedures.
• Monitor and tune the OS to achieve optimum performance and ensure server data integrity by implementing appropriate software and hardware solutions
• Define and manage user and access rights
• Perform routine system maintenance, review error logs and remediate vulnerabilities
• Standard Operating procedures will be developed and promoted, and routine hardware and software audits will be conducted
• Maintain a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documents
Minimum Experience, Education and Certification:
• Bachelor Degree or higher
• Five years of experience and applicable advance certifications for the specified areas
• At the Governments discretion years of experience may be substituted in lieu of certifications.
• Desired Certifications: VMware VCP 6.
5 or Higher, VCTA, or VCAP.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
The person in this position frequently communicates with end-users, Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 95% of the time.
Work Environment:
Work primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
Sedentary, sitting, walking, occasional lifting (overhead waist level from floor), bending, frequent near vision use for reading and computer use; frequently fast paced environment.
