Senior Bridge Inspector Infrastructure Consulting and Engineering, PLLC is looking for a Senior Bridge Inspector to join the team in West Virginia.
Your role is pivotal in shaping the success of our organization.
Position Summary The inspector will monitor the work of contractors to ensure quality control and contract compliance/specifications for culvert structures and bridge construction of moderate to considerable complexity.
In addition to inspection responsibilities, the inspector may be required to also provide inspection/project management under the direction of a Project Manager.
Additionally, this inspector will provide directions to trainee inspectors on the project as needed.
Responsibilities Provide daily observation of construction activities and document activities on required reports/forms.
Review construction materials for contract and specification compliance.
Inspect roadway and structures for conformance to plans and specifications.
Evaluate structural materials, placement of culverts, and structural operations such as foundation excavation.
Monitor placement of pilings, reinforcing and structural steel, concrete, and backfill.
Verify lines, grades, dimensions, and elevations using survey and field engineering equipment.
Perform accurate calculations and computations.
Review contractor submittals for conformance to project documents and specifications.
Document and immediately report any non-compliance actions and safety violations to your immediate supervisor.
Record daily construction inspection notes for AWP and ProjectWise document management.
Qualifications & Requirements HS diploma or equivalent required.
Technical college coursework in engineering is preferred.
Associate or BS Degree in Civil Engineering or Survey preferred.
Must be familiar with AWP and ProjectWise.
Structure experience with TRET Certification or be able to obtain within 6 months required.
Will be required to keep TRET and material certifications up to date and current through classes and Bridge Valley Minimum four years of experience in WVDOT QC/inspection work desired.
Strong written and communication skills required.
Proficient in Microsoft programs and ability to learn new technology.
Above-average math and problem-solving skills are required.
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in English.
A current driver’s license with a good 3-year driving record is required.
US Citizen or Legal Resident.
WVDOH material and ACI certifications preferred or able to obtain.
Physical Demands The inspector must be able to travel and tour work sites throughout West Virginia under adverse environmental conditions not limited to loud noise levels, high dust and dirt, and extreme temperature.
In addition, the inspector must be able to examine construction materials and finished structures.
Expected Hours of Work This position will be a full-time position, hours based on the contractor’s schedule when assigned to a project.
The position may require night or weekend work based on project construction schedules, traveling throughout West Virginia and overnight stays.
Flexible schedules may be available with prior approval from an immediate supervisor.
Inspectors are eligible for preapproved overtime at time and a half.
