The Laboratory Technician is responsible for sampling, preparing and testing lime/limestone, raw materials and associated products in a continuous plant manufacturing operation; data entry to SAP of all quality results from laboratory operation including but not limited to generation of certificates, customer reports and quality trend reports.
Monitoring and calibrating laboratory equipment and reports of conditions that could lead to product nonconformity; report & correct equipment irregularities.
Ensures housekeeping is maintained in the lab and sample preparations areas while following safety procedures and other duties as assigned by management.
Responsibilities & Duties: Schedule - Rotating Sample and test lime/limestone/hydrate /construction aggregates and associated products in a continuous plant manufacturing operation.
Data entry to SAP of all quality results from Laboratory/Kiln/Hydrator operation, including but not limited to certificate generation, reports, downloads, data verification and module maintenance.
Monitoring/cleaning, calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment and reports of conditions that could lead to product nonconformity.
Report & correct equipment irregularities.
Provide training and auditing (and subsequent documentation) on all new and existing procedures with hourly employees.
Assist in the maintenance of work instruction manuals for job positions.
Work with our sales team to compile and maintain the customer guidelines.
Scalehouse duties, weighing and ticketing of customer trucks entering and exiting the plant.
Perform Site Specific training and documentation for customer truck drivers and visitors.
Maintain document and data control for the Quality System.
Ensure compliance with documented procedures, work instructions and guidelines.
Provide documentation & maintenance of quality records.
Initiate action to prevent production and release of non-conforming product until deficiency or non-conforming product has been corrected within area of responsibility.
And other duties as assigned by management.
Job Qualifications: Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma or GED, computer proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel and ability to learn SAP.
Chemical background is a plus.
Strong math and organizational skills along with ability to meet deadlines.
Must have the ability to multi-task in a fast pace heavy workload environment.
Ability to read and interpret technical procedures.
Mechanical aptitude for lab equipment repairs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently while also operating in a team environment.
High level of integrity motivation.
Willing and able to work 12 hour rotating shifts, nights and weekends.
Candidate must be able to lift and carry samples exceeding 50 lbs.
Candidate will be required to become a Virginia Department of Transportation certified Aggregate technician by attending a 3 day class and passing a written and practical examination.
