Role Overview
Performs duties associated with installation, repair and maintenance of structural building systems, architectural finishes and school related equipment and pertinences.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or GED, or combination of training, experience and education.
Formal training or equivalent commercial experience of the following: rough-in and finish carpentry, masonry, drywall, ceiling, flooring, door and hardware.
Thorough knowledge of the International Building Code.
Thorough knowledge of fire ratings of building structures and door openings.
Valid driver's license with no court ordered restrictions.
Regular and predictable attendance, which is an essential function of this position.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications
Four (4) years successful experience in the performance of the duties of a commercial carpenter or other building trades.
Ability to read and work from blueprints.
Ability to perform work from work orders and other informational data.
Role Responsibilities
Use all woodworking hand and power tools in the construction or repair of structures or articles of carpentry as:
Install flooring, wood and metal doors, doorframes and other building systems.
Install metal partition framing, including drywall and related finishes.
Repair and install interior and exterior trim and other finish work.
Assemble and install structures according to directions from blueprints and sketches.
Repair and install weather-stripping in doors and windows to provide airtight seams.
Repair and install window frames and sash; installing sash weights, etc.
Repair and install hardware associated with windows, doors and other structural building components.
Performs installation, repairs and modification to electronic locking and access device hardware and components.
Construct and erect stairways and handicap ramps.
Repair and install acoustical ceiling, grid and tile.
Performance of related carpentry to ensure a safe and secure learning environment for all students.
Demonstrate courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders of Washington County Public Schools.
