Summary Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Junior Estimator specializing in roofing projects.
As a Junior Estimator, you will work closely with senior estimators and project managers to accurately estimate the costs and materials required for various roofing projects.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the roofing industry and develop skills in estimating, project management, and client communication.
Competencies Assist the Lead Estimator/Project Manager in obtaining jobsite rooftop measurements, photos and core cuts as required.
Assist senior estimators in reviewing project specifications, blueprints, and other documentation to understand project requirements.
Utilize estimating software and tools to prepare accurate cost estimates for roofing projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and overhead.
Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to gather quotes and pricing information for materials and services.
Analyze project scopes and identify potential risks, challenges, and opportunities.
Prepare and present estimates to project managers and clients, explaining the breakdown of costs and assumptions.
Assist in the preparation of project proposals, bid packages, and other documentation.
Maintain organized records of project estimates, revisions, and correspondence.
Perform contract negotiations and provide all contract documents to the Vice President for Approval.
Support project managers throughout the project lifecycle, including attending site visits, meetings, and inspections as needed.
Stay updated on industry trends, building codes, and best practices related to roofing construction.
Utilize Follow-up CRM for all customer touches and follow-ups.
Attend and participate in all weekly Estimating Meetings.
Attend and participate in all weekly Production and Scheduling Meetings.
Requirements High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Valid Driver’s License.
Climbing ladders and some fieldwork.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required).
Previous experience in construction estimating, particularly in roofing projects, is a plus.
Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Ability to manage time efficiently, multitask, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to roofing construction.
Willingness to learn and take on new challenges in a dynamic work environment.
Work Environment Functions can take place indoors or outdoors, sometimes in high, precarious places with fumes and/or airborne particles.
The standard work environment has loud to very loud noise levels associated with various equipment, coworkers, and phone conversations.
Often work must be performed in high and/or cramped workspaces and awkward positions.
The employee works around hazardous situations, materials, and equipment.
Physical Demands Physical demands are based on the ability to perform the following actions throughout an 8–10-hour period of work for a 4–7-day work week.
Exert oneself physically over long periods of time.
Bend stretch, twist, or reach out with the body, arms, and other extremities.
Use one’s abdominal muscles and lower back to lift continuously over time without fatiguing.
Exert maximum muscle force to lift, pull, or carry objects.
Keep or regain one’s body balance or to stay upright.
Quickly move the arms and legs.
Make fast and repeated movements of the body, fingers and hands.
Exert muscle force repeatedly.
Keep the hand and arm steady while making a movement.
Quick, coordinated movements of one hand to grasp, manipulate or assemble objects.
Coordinate movements of two or more limbs together while sitting, standing, or lying down.
Stand and walk throughout an extended workday.
Use legs, hands, and arms on a consistent basis for manual labor.
Climb and/or balance yourself.
Lift 100 pounds on occasion and up to 50 pounds regularly.
Excellent vision skills (with or without correction) are required.
Ability to clearly hear within speech range in an environment with construction noise.
Kneel, squat, or bend consistently for more than 4 hours a day.
Use hands consistently to grip, or pinch for more than 4 hours a day.
Make repetitive motions much of work hours.
