POSITION PURPOSE: Support the Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing group by evaluating product to meet required standards while also contributing to process compliance / continuous improvement efforts at American Woodmark.
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to excel at the essential functions assigned.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability required.
Experience Minimum of 12 months of manufacturing or lab experience.
Knowledge of material finishing, and color control principals is desirable.
Familiar with Six Sigma and lean methodologies a plus.
Skills Excellent personal computer skills in a networked environment; Microsoft products experience required - Outlook-Word-Excel-Project-PowerPoint Strong Planning/Organization & Time Management skills Demonstrated problem solving skills.
Education Undergraduate degree in Quality, Engineering, Business or related discipline; extensive work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ability to make visual and tactile assessments of products related to finishing specifications.
Coordinate incoming products for testing and evaluation.
Providing necessary feedback including data analysis, reports, or other information as needed.
Manage finishing color standard process for American Woodmark.
This includes updating SOP's, color refresh scheduling, and standard distribution.
Ability to utilize lab equipment / software and maintain calibration requirements (color meters, sheen meters, light fixtures, Proscale etc.
).
Maintain Quality Specifications.
Must write and maintain quality specifications so that they are in alignment with product and customer requirements and are clear to all users.
Monitor product quality data related to finish requirements and identify opportunities for improvement at finishing locations.
Ability to lead meetings with manufacturing personnel to complete defined project work.
Able to train others on critical finishing specifications and processes.
Lead quality efforts on new product launches by evaluating product produced internally and by external suppliers.
Review Customer and Provider complaint / reject product and provide recommendations for improvement projects, spec changes, and communications.
Actively participate on assigned teams and projects.
Provide a role model for CITE and Working in Teams principles.
Perform other tasks as directed by direct supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Typically, this position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
SCOPE & EXPECATIONS: Communications Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common business and technical journals and financial reports.
Ability to listen and communicate effectively with customers/clients in an effort to respond to common inquires.
Ability to develop presentations to be delivered to production team, plant level team, or public groups.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts like addition, subtraction, multiplication or division to basic manufacturing performance recording or financial performance recording.
Ability to apply basic statistics to analyze and report data.
Ability to define accuracy and precision of tooling and gages.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
