JOB PURPOSE:
Manage and improve current manufacturing processes by designing prototypes, executing plans, and evaluating processes according to LEAN techniques.
Research new materials and how they are best used, perform tests on prototypes, ensure that assembly is completed and is compliant with industry and business standards, prepare budgets and timelines for projects, provide expertise on digital design and implementation
PRIMARY/ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Responsible for the manufacturing process and development of products throughout the shop floor.
Create working prints and models as required for manufacturing products.
Budget and track the performance and cost of each job going through the shop.
Create part lists and bill of materials for production.
Establish a working knowledge of lead times and desired outcomes.
Work as a team with Technical and Operations managers to develop new designs and work out issues within our current product line.
Coordinate efforts associated with planning, purchasing, installing, and qualifying new manufacturing processes.
Perform product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
Lead corrective and preventative actions to resolve production and customer issues
Maintain effective communications with all key stakeholders both internal and where appropriate external
Prepare detailed design proposals for the development of new or existing products and technologies.
By application of mathematical and engineering equations, conduct design analysis, providing documented evidence to confirm the safe performance envelope stated for any given product and/or equipment.
Perform project management tasks such as developing project plan and costs, developing procedures and schedules, coordinate with others on the team.
Prepare reports on the project status and results of the project.
Prepare and maintain project documentation such as design review minutes, tests reports, design files, project inputs and outputs, and project costs.
Production and maintenance of engineering drawings for use in the manufacture, assembly and testing of products using CAD systems.
Responsible for checking manufacturing drawings, design calculations, test reports and design layouts.
Conduct evaluations and design reviews of new and existing product/equipment designs.
Provides engineering assistance to the function of Quality Assurance and Manufacturing.
SECONDARY DUTIES:
May assist with answering the phones, purchasing materials, and keeping the office and shop area clean and in working order.
Assist Operations manager with equipment manuals and training procedures for offered products.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
Bachelors Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing or related discipline.
Auto Cad, Inventor or any CAD type software experience.
Experience managing projects in a manufacturing environment.
General knowledge of manufacturing processes and tools used.
Experience in designing mechanical systems from concept to validation testing.
Experience and knowledge in product development is a huge plus.
Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, along with the ability to work in a team environment.
Demonstrate leadership, planning, organizational and team skills
A hands-on approach to designing experiments, testing processes, troubleshooting, data gathering and analysis
Ability to work with minimal supervision
