Backflow Prevention Specialist

Description Duties and Responsiblities Develops and maintains an annual backflow testing and maintenance schedule and notification process; Coordinates and gives oversight on testing, installation, maintenance and repair of backflow prevention devices; Enforces public health regulations relating to backflow control within the City of Winchester’s water system; Develops and maintains accurate records (electronic database) of backflow prevention device locations, testing, repairs and other pertinent information; Provides customers with the proper documentation stating installation standards and time frame for compliance; Certifies backflow prevention devices on new construction or remodels when building permits have been issued; Maintains a list of certified backflow assembly testers; Troubleshoots and responds to complaints on backflow prevention devices with the City’s water distribution system; Completes standard departmental paperwork as required; Other duties as assigned Requirements Any combination of education and experience equivalent high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required; Two years of related experience is preferred.
Possession of a valid and appropriate driver’s license is required.
Must complete AWWA Backflow Prevention & Cross-Connection online course within 30 days of hire; Must complete AWWA sponsored 40-hour Cross Connection Devices Course within 6 months.
Appropriate NIMS trainings: ICS 700,ICS 100, ICS 200 (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire); Must obtain DEQ inspector certifications within one year of hire.
