*Class A Equipment Operator*
The Class A Operator is considered to be an operator that has experience with all methods of Construction Excavation work.
This individual possesses the qualities to operate machinery at its top level to achieve productivity needed daily while still maintaining a safe work environment for his fellow employees.
He or she should be able to operate at a mastery level multiple pieces of equipment to include but not limited to.
*Backhoe, Trackhoe, Mini Excavator, Rubber Tired Loader, Trackloader, SkidSteer, End Dump, Dozer with GPS, Grader, Rollers*
The operator that is placed in this position plays a critical role in the formation of the excavation team.
He or She will play an instrumental role in performing excavation work for a pipe utility crew or grade crew and dependability, accuracy and safety are a must.
The operator must be able to fine grade and be able to check his own work to ensure accuracy.
The individual must be able to recognize situations where proper benching must take place to keep the piece of equipment and others out of harm’s way.
From time to time this individual may be asked to work independently due to the nature of their experience and from time-to-time direct others if needed.
In the absence of a Forman this person should be able to stand in on a temporary basis.

Civil Plans – should be able to read and convey message of planed work to others
General Excavation

Erosion and Sediment Control
Soil Compaction
Sanitary Sewer Installation
Water main Installation
Storm Sewer Installation
Concrete Placement
Building Knowledge of Commercial, Residential Dwellings
Can read Civil and Architectural plans and knows how to use a transit.
Job Safety OSHA and Company Policies
*Responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to.
*
· Ensure all equipment is maintained and used in accordance with company health and safety regulations
o Tracks should be kept clean
o Equipment should be properly greased
o Fluids checked daily
o Daily Equipment Walk around
o Report any items that are in need of repair
· Ensure that there is a miss-utility ticket on the job prior to starting a dig
· Be able to read plans and understand and shoot grades
· Ensure equipment is properly positioned before turning it on and of or loading or unloading it.
· Training new crew members in the safe operation of equipment and being a positive role model
· Performing other construction duties as needed
· Ensure that equipment is kept clean
· Ensure that work sites are kept clean and tidy
· Attending meetings and refresher courses to ensure responsible equipment operation
· Identifying site conditions and maintaining a safe work environment
· Maintain a safe work area and ensure that barricades are in place if needed at the completion of work.
· Maintain a positive attitude with the ability to follow directions and work with others
