The Foreman is the leader and person responsible for the construction project that has been assigned to them.
He or she is responsible for the job in its entirety from the ground up.
Aspects of this include: 1.
Preplanning before a job commences – establishing a construction schedule with the project manager.
2.
Managing the build out of his/her work and coordinating and working with others in a positive manner.
3.
Communicating with subcontractors to ensure they are on the job when needed.
4.
Scheduling of inspections with city or county officials 5.
Ordering materials to ensure the proper material is on site when needed with the Project Manager.
6.
Communicating and dealing with the owners’ ever-changing needs.
A construction schedule should be made for each job to ensure that the project stays on a timeline and to help the Foreman better manage the project costs and to minimize any down time on the job.
To help with the scheduling of the project, a two-week schedule will be made up by the Foreman at the end of each week to help the project manager and the Foreman plan for the weeks ahead.
It is important that the Foreman be aware of any work that is taking place on his job at any time whether it be with H&W Construction employees or a subcontractor.
He or she acts as a safety official to make sure that his or her job is safe and meets all OSHA standards and should hold a safety meeting to inform all his employees on the job of what is expected and what to watch out for before any job is started.
Safety meetings should include a sign-in sheet for documentation purposes, which should be kept in the job folder and a copy given to the project manager and safety director.
DEQ paperwork must be kept up and filled out as necessary to stay in compliance with state and federal regulations.
If there is maintenance that is needed on the site for DEQ reasons it is the responsibility of the Foreman to report this to the Project Manager and Excavation Manager so that items can be repaired.
While on the job, the Foreman shall always communicate with the field employees to make sure there are no problems.
If there are any employee issues, the Foreman shall relay these issues to the Project Manager and Human Resources Department so the issue can be handled accordingly.
The Foreman acts as the “eyes and ears” of the business while in the field.
Once the project has reached its point of completion, the Foreman shall make sure that all employees have locked down the job site before leaving and will make sure that all materials and equipment are safe each evening and for the weekend to avoid any theft that might occur.
The Foreman at times will have to work with structural engineers, site engineers, architects, building officials, customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and H&W employees and should present him or herself in a professional manner when conducting business.
He or she is there to listen and try and solve problems that arise in a swift but thorough manner.
He or she is one of the main people seen by the public and exemplifies what the company strives to exemplify - professionalism.

Job Safety OSHA and Company Policies *Responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to.
* * Ensure that daily logs are turned into Project Manager and coordinate needs for following days’ work * Act as the quality control measure for work performed on his/her job * Ensure all equipment is maintained and used in accordance with company health and safety regulations * Tracks should be kept clean * Equipment should be properly greased * Fluids checked daily * Daily Equipment Walk around * Report any items that are in need of repair * Ensure that there is a miss-utility ticket on the job prior to starting a dig * Be able to read plans and understand and shoot grades * Ensure equipment is properly positioned before turning it on and of or loading or unloading it.
* Training new crew members in the safe operation of equipment and being a positive role model * Performing other construction duties as needed * Ensure that equipment is kept clean * Ensure that work sites are kept clean and tidy * Attending meetings and refresher courses to ensure responsible equipment operation * Identifying site conditions and maintaining a safe work environment * Maintain a safe work area and ensure that barricades are in place if needed at the completion of work.
