Trex Company, the world’s number one decking and railing brand and leader in high-performance, low-maintenance outdoor living products, is seeking a Quality Engineer to support the development and execution of Trex’s Quality Management Strategy.
Help us deliver what’s next in outdoor living by working closely with the entire Trex Team (Operations, R&D, Marketing, Sales, Sourcing and Supply Chain) to improve product quality.
As our next Quality Engineer, you are skilled at leading and driving continuous improvement with structured problem solving, lean and Six Sigma methodologies to support the Trex Quality Management System.
You will be responsible for all facets of quality-related items in a manufacturing environment.
DUTIES Work closely with Quality Manager to update and execute Trex’s Quality Management System.
Organize and analyze data to identify continuous improvement opportunities and drive to resolution.
Establish SPC and visual management in manufacturing operations.
Responsible for technical expertise concerning Trex service issues from internally and externally generated queries and as a field representative with some supervision from the supervisor.
Responsible for gathering, interpreting and disseminating information such as: Monthly quality reports.
Customer quality complaint data collection and analysis.
Field quality-related issue resolution.
Color variation reporting by plant and trend analysis.
Competitor data collection and dissemination of quality benchmarking information.
Responsible for maintaining an archival database of quality information trends in an organized format, as well as provide a library that can be accessed by manufacturing and technical service members.
Responsible for assisting in the customer service feedback process as the quality point of contact.
This position is also responsible for directing questions to the appropriate internal resources as well as participating in the investigation of the root causes of these issues.
Responsible for attending and supporting daily and weekly production meetings as voice of quality to ensure issues are addressed in a timely manner as they arise.
Responsible for communicating project status with written monthly reports to the supervisor.
Responsible to work with supplier quality engineer / manager on any supplier quality issues that arise and driving to resolution utilizing the CAPA process Responsible for development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality measurement methods including new technologies (ie.
Vision Systems, etc.
).
Indirectly supports activities of all quality department personnel, coordinates and manages the quality lab, quality equipment and quality testing to ensure quality is consistently measured according to the latest Trex standards.
Maintain Trex quality process as a current and complete set of procedures and specifications for all Trex product lines.
Ensure the proper segregation and disposition of below-standard material, monitor quality data and assist with the startup of new products and processes.
Responsible for implementation of any capital-related projects within the quality department.
Support inline monitoring quality and/or process instrumentation.
EXPERIENCE An associate's degree in Engineering and 7+ years of related experience is required, or a bachelor’s degree with 3+ years’ related experience.
Backgrounds in quality data collection and systems (SPC) and/or their industrial application is beneficial to this position.
A strong desire to communicate technical issues and “hands on” practices is essential to succeeding in this position, which will involve customer relations and travel as well as analyzing results of tests.
