Position Summary
The division of Allied Health Sciences is seeking a full-time faculty member to start in Fall 2024 for lectures and labs who can teach in some or all of the following disciplines:
Microbiology
Biology
Anatomy & Physiology
Human Body
General Chemistry
General Physical Science

Faculty members are typically expected to work and be available 37.
5 hours a week, Monday through Friday, between 8 AM and 5 PM.
This time can be spent teaching classes, serving on committees, academic advising, participating in events, or as part of the instructor’s office hours.
Faculty may be asked to work evenings and weekends occasionally.
This position is located at the main campus, but may report to all locations to support the needs of the position.
Duties and Responsibilities
Typical duties of our faculty may include but aren’t limited to:
Maintain a faculty load of up to 30 credits per academic year and up to 10 office hours weekly
Collaborate with colleagues on course curriculum
Engage with students to help them learn in both synchronous and asynchronous environments
Establish high, but achievable standards and ensure students understand how they will be evaluated
Create class syllabi to include instructor-specific contact information and course policies and ensure the syllabus meets the Allied Health Department and BRCTC standards.
Plan and create lectures in class/remote discussions and assignments
Grade assigned papers, quizzes, and exams within one week of due dates.
Assess students’ progress based on participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations.
Report student learning outcomes and analyze student data
Utilize Blackboard (the online learning management system) to enrich the student learning experience for the course's online component, utilizing Quality Matters standards.
Ensure students receive quality feedback promptly to support their academic success.
Respond to student emails and phone calls within 1 business day.
Provide guidance and support to students before and after class, during office hours, and via Zoom.
Utilize the Acuity scheduling tool to arrange appointments.
Advise students on what courses to register for and how to apply to the nursing program at BRCTC
Stay updated on innovations and changes within their course field and within the field of education
Participate in professional development
Attend BRCTC events including but not limited to orientations, registration events, graduations, etc.
Other duties as assigned to meet the Mission, drive the Vision, and abide by the Core Values of BRCTC.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Master’s degree in the discipline or Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in the discipline
Experience
Teaching experience preferred
Experience using technology to teach, Blackboard experience a plus
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
Ability to teach utilizing real-world experience
Proficiency in oral and written presentation skills, planning, and organizing course objectives.
Ability to demonstrate the use of relevant academic technology and learning management systems to facilitate teaching, learning, assessment, and effective communication
Demonstrated passion for their academic field and education in general
Commitment to student engagement, including maintaining consistent communication and virtual support mechanisms to ensure student success.
Licensure and Certification
Certification in or willingness to become certified in Quality Matters online teaching certification
All faculty positions are lecturer rank with temporary classification at entry.
