*Position Title: *Humane Educator
*Responsible to: *Humane Education, Advocacy & Marketing Coordinator
*Job Summary: *Responsible for assisting in developing and implementing the Humane Education & Advocacy Department programs.

*Essential Functions:*
* Assist in developing humane educational curriculum, including visual displays, to be used by NHES
* Research and compile databases to identify and expand NHES programs to new audiences (elementary schools, retirement homes, civic groups, etc.
)
* Plan and present educational programs locally and nationally, including those needed for the CFC
* Develop and author content for NHES print and media publications, including program advertisements
* Develop and maintain humane education information on the NHES website
* Write and send e-blasts for NHES, BAAC, and Spay Today
* Train volunteers to assist with department functions as appropriate
* Network to keep up-to-date on the latest news/issues pertaining to the humane field and disseminate this information to staff as appropriate
* Research and author content about current animal welfare issues and publish on NHES’ website and social media platforms
* Plan and conduct Cool to Care camps, provide educational tours/presentations, and fill material orders
* Create video content showcasing adoptable animals rescued by NHES’ flagship animal care facility
* Respond to telephone and written inquiries for humane education information
* Always treat animals and people with respect; contribute to effective teamwork, promote cooperation, and foster public relations beneficial to NHES
* Perform other duties as necessary for the operation of NHES
* Participates in ongoing self-assessment program as required
*Working Conditions: Office environment with exposure to cats, dogs, and other animals.
Position requires intermittent local and national travel for presentations in various venues.

*Supervisor/Consultations: *Position reports to the Humane Education, Advocacy & Marketing Coordinator; meetings with the Executive Director, Animal Care Administrator, Marketing Assistant & Humane Educator and other NHES staff.
*Qualifications: *Proficient at public speaking in small and large group settings, excellent written and verbal communication skills, working knowledge of computers and software including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and Adobe, comfortable handling and interacting with animal ambassador dogs during programs, associate’s degree in related field, experience working with children, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, valid driver’s license & satisfactory driving record, and knowledge of animal welfare issues.
*Hours: *Full time, non-exempt position, regularly scheduled to work 40 hours a week; schedule can vary according to travel requirements, typically Tuesday through Saturday.
Will include weekend work.
