Middleburg Montessori School is an AMI recognized School that has served children birth through 15 years of age for forty-three years.
We are looking to fill a teacher assistant role with an enthusiastic capable adult who is genuinely interested in child development and advocating for the child.
Daily Responsibilities:
· Greet children and assist them in and out of their cars safely.
· Supervises children in the classroom, on the playground, and in any area of the school grounds at all times ensuring the safety and physical well-being of the children always.
· Adhere to professional standards as an educator.
* Protecting the privacy and working atmosphere of the class at all times.
· Help to prepare and maintain a classroom environment.
* Taking responsibility for the care and maintenance of the classroom, teaching materials, and equipment.
· Reports to Teacher(s) first and then Head of School.
· Acts as a support person during class work times and will support the work of the head classroom teacher.
· Works with individual and small groups of children as directed by the Teacher and/or Head of School.
· Assists the teacher in the daily monitoring of students' work.
· Assists with preparation of curriculum and classroom materials as directed.
· Follows all policies and procedures of the school as written in the employee and parent handbooks.
As needed responsibilities:
· Supervise children in monthly fire and safety in place drills.
· Help to maintain current, accurate, individual progress notes, attendance records and incidental notes.
· Assists in holding conferences with parents.
· Participates in parent/teacher meetings and any other meetings deemed necessary by the Head of School.
· Supports all school related fundraising projects.
· Assists with developing other projects, programs, and planning as requested by Head of School.

· 3 Months of programmatic experience plus one of the following:
* 1-year early childhood certificate from college or university that is at least 30 semester hours,
* or child development credential,
* or teaching diploma from an international/ nationally recognized Montessori organization.
· 6 months supervised programmatic experience
· High school or equivalent (Required)
