Position Description POSITION TITLE: Interventionist Teacher - Mathematics QUALIFICATIONS: Valid teaching certificate licensing the individual to teach in the specialization and grade levels, pursuant to WV Code §18A-3-2; Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3- 10, as appropriate; and Meets the qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A-3-2a To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

REPORTS TO: Principal FSLA/CONTRACT STATUS: Exempt EMPLOYMENT TERM: Minimum 200 days annually, pursuant to WV Code §18-5-45; extended employment terms may be established by the Morgan County Board of Education.
SALARY:Salary based on experience and education level per CBOE salary schedule plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.
EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated by the building principal/immediate supervisor and in accordance with WV State Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5310 and Morgan County Board of Education Evaluation Policy.
JOB SUMMARY: Provide appropriate instruction to students and insure that the students meet the learning objectives and standards for the appropriate grade level.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Demonstrate accurate and current knowledge in subject field.
Employ a variety of instructional strategies to augment achievement.
Establish procedures and rules that enhance learning.
Set high positive expectations for student performance.
Encourage and acknowledge individual students’ accomplishments and appropriate behavior.
Treat students in a fair and equitable manner.
Accommodate individual learning differences.
Create and maintain an environment that supports learning.
Prepare materials, supplies and equipment before the lesson or instructional activity begins.
Introduce the instructional activity and specify instructional objectives.
Direct and adequately supervise students to be on task quickly at the beginning of each instructional activity.
Present reading, writing, speaking, and listening strategies using concepts and language which students understand.
Provide relevant examples and demonstrations to illustrate concepts and skills.
Assign developmentally appropriate tasks.
Follow confidentiality procedures regarding students, parents/guardians, and fellow staff members.
Collaborate with school administrators and teachers in data analysis.
Collaborate with school administrators and teachers in the development of intervention plans for critical need students.
Implement intervention plan of remediation for students.
Confer with administrators and teachers concerning student progress and needs.
Participate in training on intervention programs or strategies for students.
Peform any other duties deemed appropriate and assigned by the superintendent and/or immediate supervisor(s).
