GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
Under general supervision, plans and implements physical education, health and family life educational programs for Grafton Duties include assessing student needs, interests and aptitudes and developing curriculum, therapy plans and lesson plans pertaining to physical education, health and family life.
Reports to the Principal or Assistant Principal.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provides physical education, health and family life instruction, lessons and activities.
Assesses student interests, aptitudes and needs and develops related program curriculum.
Develops program related goals and objectives for incorporation into the student's ISP and/or Plan of Care.
Develops lesson plans and activities which support these goals and objectives and facilitate the employee's achievement of same.
Collects and records progress related data obtained from implemented lessons and activities.
Evaluates students’ achievements and progress pertaining to physical education, health and family life; and documents in progress reports, as appropriate.
Ensures compatibility of instructional format and management procedures for each student in concert with his treatment team and overall treatment needs.
Identifies and obtains necessary supplies and equipment; and transports to varying locations as needed.
Implements crisis intervention strategies as needed.
Documents and reports all incidents in accordance with policies and procedures.
Responds to inquiries from agencies, parents and/or guardians regarding student progress, goals, lessons, etc.
Prepares a variety of reports, forms and records related to assigned program areas to include teacher data sheet, progress reports, etc.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Maintains program equipment and ensures maintenance of physical plant.
Transports students and equipment as needed.
Performs other work as assigned.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Requires bachelor’s in physical education or a related field.
Prefer 1 -2 years of experience implementing physical education and health lesson plans and activities; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires State Teacher's certification; MANDT training and a valid driver's license.

Compensation
New Competitive FY2024 Teacher Pay Scale available upon request, starting at $57,663.
