JobID: 11199 Position Type: Paraprofessional/Paraprofessional Itinerant - Math Intervention Tutor Date Posted: 12/1/2023 Location: North Hagerstown High School Closing Date: 12/07/2023 Paraprofessional - Itinerant Math Intervention Tutor North Hagerstown High School Grade 6 of the ESP Salary Scale, Consideration is given for Pre-K - 12 teaching experience on a state issued professional certificate 7 Hours/Day, 10-Month Work Year Reports to Math Achievement Coordinator As an at-risk prevention and student intervention paraprofessional, this role serves as a support to accelerate learning and close gaps in the major work of mathematics content.
This role will assist with screening, as well as targeted and explicit intervention support for identified students using district-provided intervention resources.
Additionally, this position will assist with progress monitoring at-risk students throughout the year, adjusting support as necessary.
This role serves as an itinerant regional support (1-4 schools) based on need as determined by county-level data.
Note: This position is to support Algebra I students.
Minimum Requirements High school diploma/GED.
Must meet Highly Qualified status (A.
A.
Degree, 48 credit hours, or have successfully passed the Paraprofessional Praxis Test).
Experience working with at-risk youth or commensurate experience.
Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications A.
A.
Degree in Early Childhood Education, Behavioral Sciences, Developmental Education, or similar.
Trained in intervention delivery.
Experience delivering reading or math intervention.
Elementary education or mathematics coursework completion.
Effective interpersonal and organizational skills.
Competency in language and writing skills.
Effective team member skills.
Training and experience working with populations relevant to the assigned school(s).
Effective technology skills.
A positive disposition toward mathematics.
Role Responsibilities Develop effective communication and working relationships with students, school-based personnel (guidance counselors, teachers, administrators, etc.
), and district personnel (supervisors, math specialists, etc.
).
Work with school teams, including the Mathematics Special Education Content Teacher at the school, to implement action plans that will accelerate learning and close gaps in mathematics achievement.
Assist in administering screening assessments as assigned.
Provide explicit and targeted intervention to students identified as at-risk of not meeting grade or course-level math targets under the direction of the WCPS Math Department.
Maintain student and personnel documentation, including progress monitoring and anecdotal records, as required, and complete reports in a timely fashion.
Maintain confidentiality of student, family, and school information.
Participate in school and district professional development activities.
Demonstrate courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders of Washington County Public Schools.
Other duties as requested.
