Employment Term Dates of employment: July 8-August 2 Teaching days: July 9- August 2 all half day Teacher prep day: July 8th full day (no students), August 2nd (PM) Only two full work days for teachers are July 8 and August 2 Job Type Description Vacancies exist for special education multi-categorical teachers based upon student enrollment/needs for the Special Education Extended School Year Program which will be held at Tuscarora Elementary School.
The successful applicant will teach academics, daily living skills, personal hygiene, self-help, functional academics, and personal-social skills, and/or other critical skill areas.
Qualifications include West Virginia teacher certification in learning disabilities, K-12, or multi-categorical, LD, BD, MI, K-12.
Salary Schedule Berkeley County Schools Teacher Pay Scale based upon degree level and verified years of experience.
Sick Leave Bonus Extended contract days (summer school) will become a part of the number of days worked in a fiscal year and affect allowable days absent.
Employees working extended contracts (summer school) who take leave without pay (dock), personal leave (leave without cause),personal illness, bereavement, maternity leave, and labor action (strike) shall constitute days absent toward eligibility in participation in sick leave bonus pay.
Qualifications Requirements Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, and demonstrate the knowledge and ability to be a qualified and effective candidate for the vacancy.
Holds or can obtain West Virginia Teacher certification in pre-school special needs.
Ability to collaborate with others and work closely with the County's Pre-K program director and staff, parents/guardians, classroom aides, Pre-K team at the school, and other pertinent personnel in order to best meet the needs of students.
Professional traits such as strong organization skills, flexibility, patience, and personal responsibility are important to be a successful.
Effective verbal and written skills, and interpersonal skills are required.
